Fluorescent Swimming Pool

For lack of anything better to post this week, I thought I'd share this picture of the pool in my complex. Nifty huh? Not so nifty when I get the extra bill to drain the entire pool, clean it and refill it.

This is the work of some vandals last week. They aren't sure what it is, but think it's anti-freeze or radiator fluid - both hazardous. I don't really know if it's going to cost me anything, guess we have to wait and see if the HOA has enough funds to cover it.

Craft Fair Snowflakes

Today I participated in the craft fair to raise money for the women's shelter. As most of you know, I crocheted snowflakes to sell.

The event was in my friend's yard from 8am - 2pm. I expected a lot more traffic, but despite the slowness, we still earned approx. $1,000 (final total is still being calculated). Not bad, huh?
I took a total of 54 snowflakes and sold 37 of them. Most of them were sold for $3 and a few of them for $2 at the end. Total = $100. Hurray! I also get to count it as one of my Personal Progress projects. Double hurray!! It was a nice event to contribute to.

Human Foosball

I was in charge of our YW/YM joint activity this last Tuesday. We decided to play Human Foosball. Similar to the table game, players are lined up in rows and can only move left and right to kick the ball back and forth. I didn't get more than these two pictures because I was too busy referring and throwing the ball back in when it went out of bounds.

The kids tried to follow the rules but they were definitely a little loose. It was too crazy to try and be completely strict. It also took a while before the first goal was scored. The balls were so light that one kick sent them mostly soaring over heads than between feet. (Notice the second ball in the upper left corner of the picture below.) Things moved faster when we introduced the second ball.

Overall, I think it went well and most of the kids had fun. If anyone wants the rules and set up info, let me know and I can email them to you.
