This past Tuesday night our Mia Maids watch the Ben Comen story and they were all assigned a disability that they had to experience thru the evening. We had a bum leg, deaf, blind, wheelchair bound and mute.
After we watch and discussed the video, then we had a little fun trying to play games with their disabilities - Twister and Funny Bones.
Overall the evening went pretty well.Although her birthday isn't until the 18th, last night we threw my sister Shae a surpise birthday party. Her in-law's are in town for a few days and I decided she might like to celebrate it while they were here. We pulled it off perfectly, she didn't have a clue until the very end.
We set it up so that I had her husband, Eric, tell her he wanted to take his parents to dinner on Saturday night. Then, about an hour or so before I called over to Eric and told him that I was giving a YW lesson on Sunday about journals and needed to borrow examples of journals for my display (true story: I was giving a lesson on journals). I asked if there was any way Eric could bring his over to me on their way out. He had a hard time not snickering during this 'conversation'. Shae's only moment of suspicion was when I told him to bring his parents in really quick to say hi. Afterwards she started remembering other things from throughout the week that struck her as odd, but didn't really suspect anything. 
Shae was very surprised when she walked in the door and we all shouted surprise! The attendees included our parents, Eric's brother Josh, Josh's wife Yenelli and their little girl, Yenelli's mom Abigale, Eric's daugher Sarah, Eric's parents, my nephew Christopher and a couple of Christopher's friends. It was quite the crowd.
My friend Kandra Lassen made this awesome cake! It was chocolate with a chocolate mousse and rasberry filling with cream cheese frosting.
My mom was in charge of the party games. She decided to test out the game she will be using for our Eberhard reunion this summer. For those sneaky cousins of mine who are reading this, I'm not giving you any other hints about how to play it. If anyone else is interested, feel free to email me.

Sarah has a little balloon fun.
This is my precious new nephew, Oliver Finn Howard, born April 1, 2010. I had the opportunity to fly up to Medford this past week and meet him in person. I spent the week with Deven, Sara, Owen and Oliver and had a great time.

Early in April my nephew Conner came to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Law while his parents went to Hawaii. He thought Grandpa was hilarious.
