When Nature Calls

Tuesday night my parents, sister Shae, and I drove to Las Vegas and Wednesday morning attended the funeral of my uncle, Deon Sanders. It was a very very nice service and I'm glad I went. I don't have any pictures to share since most were taken on my cousin's camera, so I'm waiting for copies.

Following a family luncheon and visiting we hit the road to come back home. On a lovely stretch of highway 15 between Primm, NV and Baker, CA Shae very suddenly determined she needed to use the restroom. Of course, restrooms aren't exactly plentiful throughout the desert and so Dad promised to stop as soon as he could, but we were still about 30 miles away from Baker. Well, you have to understand that Shae is basically notorious for frequent bathroom breaks and they usually become urgent quickly, so 30 minutes wasn't really going to cut it, but she said she'd try to wait. As we continued to drive she began contemplating the various joshua trees and mesquite bushes along the highway, and she was pretty serious. Of course, the rest of us found this quite amusing and teased to the point that we were all laughing. And you all know that laughing isn't good for a person in this situation.

So, it eventually got bad enough that as soon as an off-ramp presented itself, Dad took it. And so we ended up on Halloran Summit Road. It's a lovely place that has been sparsly landscaped with the native plant life.
And to Shae's great fortune we found a perfect temporary restroom immediately at the end of the ramp. We suggested the couch conveniently placed outside would make a nice throne......but she determined that porcelain white was out of season and went for the jet black rubber tire brand. She did however forget to consider some of the nuances related to her situation until Mom, a bit too late, shouted out of the car window, "Be careful there aren't any rattlesnakes!" Those of us in the car had a nice chuckle but Shae didn't. All I can say is....That's Shae for you!

I love it! I'm used to doing that with kids. I guess Shae's just a grown up kid! Thanks for sharing
